About
I started my photography business in 2006. As a retired US Forest Service ecologist, I bring my eye as a naturalist to wildlife & nature photography. My education in forestry, ecology, wildlife, range, botany, & other natural resources; plus 40 years working in forests & wetlands of the Pacific Northwest, Alaska, & Rocky Mountains have honed an empathy for the subjects I now capture through the lens of my camera. I create most of my images while canoeing or hiking in the northern Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Northwest.
Life is tough!
I have an inventory of about 5000 plant photos as a result of my love of botany, 2350 of which are included in the University of Washington’s Burke Museum plant photo collection. Another 750 are found in Bruce Barnes’ “Flora ID Northwest”, an electronic key to the plants of 8 (or more?) western states & British Columbia.

I spent 2006-2009 photo touring many areas in western North America — including the southwest, Black Hills, Yellowstone, Tetons, Washington, Alberta, British Columbia, Costa Rica, and Banks Island in the Arctic Ocean. I now have an inventory of several thousand images for sale. I’ve won several local photo contest and my images have appeared in local newspapers and travel guides.
