My Camera Equipment

My digital equipment is mostly Canon. Carefully review the web pages before you buy a camera and lenses. Tailor your selections to your needs (www.fredmiranda.com is a particularly good site for evaluating gear). Don’t buy an expensive DSL camera and lenses if you’re primary interest is general snapshots. A self contained 6 to 10 megapixels, point and shoot camera will do just fine. If you have a bad back like me, you may find the Canon 500 mm f4 and other large lenses too heavy to carry for long distances, especially in combination with other camera gear & a heavy, stable tripod. For that reason, I just sold my excellent Canon 70-200mm f2.8 and Canon 300mm f4.0 lenses & replaced them with the Canon 100-400mm zoom telephoto lens. My 500mm will stay closer to the car and in my canoe. One last comment – I got tired of cleaning dust spots off my camera sensors and images  and have switched to Canon DSL cameras with self cleaning functions. You still have to clean them but not as often.
